Chief of the General Staff of the F-FDTL accompanied by the TL Ambassador to Brazil visits DCP, CP.

‎The Chief of the General Staff of the F-FDTL, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, as well as the National Maritime Authority (AMN), accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Timor-Leste accredited to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Dr. Maria Ângela Guterres Viegas Carrascalão, visited the Directorate of Ports and Coasts (DPC), as well as the Harbor Master's Office (CP) at the Rio de Janeiro Marina base, Brazil.

‎The objective of this visit was to learn about the structure of the DPC as a military organization of the Brazilian Navy subordinate to the General Directorate of Navigation. ‎

The department is responsible for drafting standards within the scope of the representative duties of the Brazilian Maritime Authority, which operates in the area of ​​Waterway Traffic Safety.

‎In addition, there is also the Maritime Professional Education System, which standardizes and supervises environmental management, monitors maritime policies and resolutions issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and also manages the processes of the bodies spread throughout the national territory.

‎During the visit to these two locations, in his speech, the Lieutenant General of the CEMGFA as AMN also shared the legal provisions set forth in Decree-Law No. 39/2020, of September 23, which creates the Timor-Leste Maritime Authority System (SAM), and the Organic Structure of the National Maritime Authority, through Decree-Law No. May 31, having stated that his priority is to put decentralized services into operation.

‎It is also emphasized that the operation of the Port Authority in the near future will be the initial milestone and the incipient phase to ensure the exercise of public power in maritime spaces under national sovereignty and jurisdiction and the functioning of the administration and coordination of the bodies and services that operate within the scope of SAM, according to the principles of priority, proportionality and complementarity. rational use of State resources.
