Missions and Vision

The primary mission of the F-FDTL, as constitutionally defined, is to ensure military defense against any external aggression or threat, regardless of its nature or how it may be revealed.

In addition to the generic mission referred to in the previous paragraph, the F-FDTL may fulfill its international commitments in the military sphere, by participating in humanitarian and peace support missions and in military-technical cooperation actions.

In the Integrated National Security System, the F-FDTL collaborates, under the terms of the law, in supporting the civil authorities in Civil Protection missions and tasks related to meeting basic needs and improving the quality of life of the population, including in situations of public calamity that do not justify the suspension of the exercise of rights.

The Specific Missions of the F-FDTL arising from the missions set out in the previous paragraphs, drawn up at the proposal of the CEMGFA, shall be approved by the member of the Government with competence in the area of Defense, after consulting the Higher Council for Defense and Security.
