The Chief of the General Staff of the F-FDTL Received a Visit Today from the Chief of the General Staff of Portugal and the Major General of New Zealand

The Chief of the General Staff of the Portuguese Armed Forces, General José Nunes da Foseca, and Major General Rose King (Chief of the Army) of the New Zealand Armed Forces paid a courtesy visit to the FALINTIL Institution of the Timor-Leste Defense Forces (F-FDTL) to discuss Technical-Military Cooperation. He said that Lieutenant General of the Portuguese Armed Forces, José Nunes da Fonseca, and Major General Rose King (Chief of Army) of the New Zealand Armed Forces had come to participate in the 50th FALINTIL Day, which Timor-Leste (TL) celebrates on August 20, 2025.

"As usual, we invited everyone to the ceremony. This is always a bilateral and courtesy meeting. Congratulations and thanks," said the Chief of Staff of the FALINTIL - Timor-Leste Defense Forces (F-FDTL), Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl "F-DTL" Fatuhada Dili.

He explained that they had come to visit to discuss the cooperation that has been taking place in the recent past.

"We and Portugal are our specific formation," he thanked them. He especially came to thank His Excellency, and I suggest important points such as cooperation and support in organizing our military health and providing food to the forces. "I suggest he meet with the Minister, if it's in the box for the programmatic framework, for both governments in the future," he said.

 

Furthermore, Major General Rose King (Chief of Army) of the New Zealand Armed Forces met with the Chief of General Staff of the FALINTIL - Timor-Leste Defence Forces (F-FDTL), Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl "Falur Rate Laek," to congratulate and thank him. He will also meet in the Indo-Pacific region, where he will be in Thailand to discuss military-technical cooperation.

"We discussed cooperation between the two parties, to talk about military-technical cooperation. They will also come to train us in shooting and weapons handling. We will then send our soldiers to study at the New Zealand Military Academy, where we will also provide other training, and we thank them for providing us with military training."
