The Chief of Staff of the FALINTIL (Timor-Leste Defense Forces), Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl "Falur Rate" Laek, and his team visited the grave of the late Hilário da Costa Barreto, after returning from a solemn ceremony at the tomb of the late President Nicolau Lobato, in Binani, Suco Mindelo Turiskai.

"Today I come to greet my friend, the late Maulero, as a veteran with whom we were together during the occupation, for his participation in the struggle for independence, and during the guerrilla period, recently appointed as deputy for Region III."

He did many things in the history of Timor-Leste that not everyone did. During the war, he provided monthly financial support to the guerrillas on the mountain.
