South Pacific Island Sergeant Majors Meeting

New Zealand, March 13, 2025.

 A delegation of Sergeants Majors from Pacific Island countries participated in a South Pacific leadership meeting on natural disaster response.

 A member of FALINTIL-Forças de Defesa de Timor-Leste (F-FDTL), consisting of Sergeant Major Alberto Moreira Freitas, participated in a South Pacific Island leadership meeting at Te Taue Moana Marae Naval Base, New Zealand.

 The purpose of this meeting is to strengthen the Sergeant Major relationship in the South Pacific and to make a commitment that when a natural disaster occurs, we can gather ideas, some thoughts to address and find solutions to such events, especially in the South Pacific Islands region.

 The countries that participated in the meeting came from Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, PNG, including Timor-Leste.

Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek visits the New Zealand Naval Cultural Site.

New Zealand, 13 March 2025.

 The Chief of General Staff of FALINTIL-Timor-Leste Defence Force, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, today visited the cultural activities of the New Zealand Naval Force as part of his participation in the high-level meeting between the Chiefs of General Staff of the South Pacific island that was held in New Zealand.

 The purpose of this cultural activity visit is to learn about the culture of the Naval Forces, especially in New Zealand, as well as to better strengthen relations between leaders in the South Pacific to commit to pooling ideas and finding solutions to such events when natural disasters occur, especially in the South Pacific regions.

 The Chiefs of General Staff of Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, PNG, including Timor-Leste, participated in the visit.

 During the visit, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, with a delegation from the TL composed of the Field Assistant of the CEMGFA Major José Pinto, the Lieutenant Nurse CEMGFA Ensign Celestino Amaral, the Sergeant-Major Alberto Moreira Freitas 'Jery', the Translator First Sergeant Armando Soares, and the Security CEMGFA Sergeant Oki.

Chief of Staff of the F-FDTL participates in the launch of the National Campaign on ASEAN

FALINTIL-FDTL Receives 1,000 Boots From The Australian Armed Force

Dili Metinaro, January 23, 2025.
FALINTIL-Defence Force of Timor-Leste, through the Chief of General Staff of the F-FDTL, Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl "FALUR RATE LAEK" and the structure received a thousand boots from the Australian Force. "Today we come here, we witness once again a historic moment to support what the Australian forces deliver to us, these boots really serve for the members of the F-FDTL to use and this support has great significance between the Timor-Leste Force and the Australian Force to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
During the development of the Defence Force from Aileu to Metinaro until today, they have always accompanied our development of the Australian Force as a strategic partner for Timor-Leste, so we ask Australia to continue to support the F-FDTL so that we too do not forget the support of the Australian government, in addition, we do not forget other partner countries such as Japan, Portugal and Korea who during the strong support of the F-FDTL in training to develop the F-FDTL to become a professional force, concluded the CEMGFA.
On the other hand, the Australian Defence Attaché, Navy and War Captain, Matthew Richardson, said that it is a great honor for him to represent the Australian Government in the delivery of boots to the Armed Forces of Timor-Leste.
"Today we came to the Metinaro Training Centre to deliver the support that the Australian Armed Forces have given to the FFDTL, the boots that have supported this excellent quality that the men and women of the Australian Forces use for work and exercise.
Australia is committed to continuing to support Timor-Leste in any sector, especially so that the Timor-Leste Armed Forces can better develop, he said.

Lieutenant General opens Naval Cup and asks young people to create peace and stability

Hera, Dili, 06 January 2025.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Defense Forces of Timor-Leste, Lieutenant-General Domingos Raul "FALUR RATE LAEK", opening the Naval Cup, asked the youth to create peace and stability in society.
“Today the opening of the Naval Cup will prepare them to be young people who love football and some become strength so that we can create peace and stability in society because the game has victories and defeats because winning also winning also losing with victory because losing learn the next game can be a good tactic.
He also underlined that coming all here means giving our solidarity to our Naval Component for the great sadness that our Armed Forces especially the Naval Component face because today our presence is a gesture of solidarity to our father and brothers.
On the other hand, the Commander of the Naval Component Commodore Higino das Neves, affirmed that the Naval Cup was not instituted as in last year due to the many services.
“Today we return to hold the Naval Cup with the presence of His Excellency the Chief of General Staff of the F-FDTL will motivate us especially the young people because the objective of the Naval Cup is not to win or lose but its objective is to bring together young people from all over Timor to participate in this cup to get to know each other, create relationships friendly between employees and also share skills of experience that you must use in the field is not to fight each other and keep hatred and take revenge in the field, but to show your skills and experience to each other.
In the same place, the President of the Naval Cup Commission, Captain Lieutenant, Rosário Alves da Cruz, said that every year the Naval Cup is always held in the annual matrix to commemorate the existence of the Naval Component.
"The Naval Cup became a symbol of the relationship between the Armed Forces and the community, mainly strengthening the talents of our young people to create peace in the community.
I wish the 17 clubs that have talent and determination to compete in this Naval Cup that the sporting spirit prevails in every game through dedication and respect and discipline for the Naval Cup, he concluded.
The opening began with the first game of FC Abafu against FC Fatusa with a score of 3-1.

RDTL National Flag Raising Ceremony in Early January 2025

The National Flag Raising Ceremony of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (RDTL) was held for the first time in January 2025 at the Fatuhada Headquarters in Dili.
After the national flag raising ceremony, the Chief of the General Staff of FALINTIL-FDTL, Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl “FALUR RATE LAEK” as Inspector of the ceremony said, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
“You celebrate the new year by saying goodbye to the old year with your family and friends that we make a good reflection in each family and institution, so that in this new year we can improve better”.
He also stressed that after the new year, we immediately received a major problem, especially flooding in the Naval Component of the F-FDTL that we also express our solidarity with the Naval Component.
Our motto is to modernize and professionalize. With this strength we can do this, so we do the work to improve first in the present to continue a safe future, if we think first about the future we will make mistakes in the present.
Here I want to say just two words like Tranquility and Serenity, Tranquility because our spirit of patriotism and nationalism rises, serenity because we are Christians as believers.
“At the meeting of the Superior Council for Defense and Security, our high authorities of Timor-Leste congratulated and appreciated us, especially the security operations during important visits, especially in 2024”, concluded the Lieutenant General.
