Members of the FALINTIL-Forças de Defesa de Timor-Leste (F-FDTL) Air Component take part in a parade at the Dili Municipal Authority to commemorate the 23rd Independence Day of Timor-Leste.
However, the overall theme for the celebration of the 23rd Independence Day of Timor-Leste is “STRENGTHENING PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT”.

The entire command structure of the FALINTIL-Timor-Leste Defence Forces (F-FDTL) paid its last respects to the commander of Region IV Leão Fronteira, the late Ernesto Fernandes “Dudu” at the Headquarters building, Fatuhada, Dili.
The late Ernesto Fernandes ‘Dudu’ passed away on 7 May 2025, this morning, at the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV).
As we pay our last respects to the late Chief of the F-FDTL General Staff, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, in his last message to the deceased, we gather here with heavy hearts to welcome Commander Dudu, our Hero who has come to the FALINTIL-FDTL Headquarters.
The institution that we also consider his home, the house that he dedicated with sweat, sacrifice and life to defend and build in difficult times.
“The courage, dedication and spirit of service of the Commander will always be recorded in our memory, especially all his good deeds during his life, especially in the places where he served. Commander Dudu served our country with honor, and his sacrifice guaranteed our freedom. He guides and illuminates our path and inspires us to live with courage and determination. His story continues to inspire us to be responsible citizens, conscientious citizens, dedicated citizens and, above all, to be nationalists and patriots to contribute to the strengthening of our national independence.”
The Lieutenant General also emphasized that the good deeds of the late commander deserve our feeling of gratitude for the legacy he left, as well as our prayers and our feeling of solidarity with the family during this difficult time.
The Chief of the General Staff of the F-FDTL informed that the Institution offers all the support whenever the family needs to honor and dignify all the good deeds he left.
Maun Dudu, although you are gone, your spirit will inspire us to continue, especially the children who now serve in the institution whose roots come from FALINTIL. Thank you for your courage and dedication. Qualities that will be passed on to our young soldiers so that they may follow the spirit of leadership that you left behind. FALINTIL-Forsa Defeza Timor-Leste (F-FDTL), through Defense Vice Colonel Manuel Freitas “MAUBUTI”, accompanied by his Vice Lieutenant Colonel Graduate José Pinto, visited RDTL cadet Sersan Taruna, Expery Jezinho Gomes Raúl at the Air Academy (UNIA), Jogjakarta Regional Special Area, Indonesia.
The purpose of the visit was to learn about and hear first-hand the cadet's progress through the management of the air academy where the training is being provided.
This visit is part of the annual program, to report to the RDTL Ministry of Defense and the FALINTIL-FDTL Command in Dili.
During the visit to the TNI AU Academy, Jogja, Indonesia, he was received by the Governor of the TNI Marsda Academy, Purwoko Aji, and the Deputy Commander of the Cadet Regiment.
On the other hand, the TNI AU Academy is satisfied with the performance of Cadet RDTL Expery in the physical part, and he also ranked thirteenth in his class.
Cadet RDTL Expery will also graduate in 2026 (3 years). Based on the new curriculum of the TNI Academy.
The visit went well and was filled with a warm atmosphere of friendship.

Chief of the General Staff of FALINTIL-Defense Forces of Timor-Leste (F-FDTL) Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl “FALUR RATE LAEK” participated in the inauguration ceremony of the residence of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola, in Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili.
In his speech, the designated Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Timor-Leste, José Andrade de Lemos, said that this inauguration is an important step for cooperation between the two countries in the future, and that they can work together and explore the potential of both countries.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, the President of the Court of Appeal, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic, a member of the IX Constitutional Government and the diplomatic corps designated in Timor-Leste.

The Chief of General Staff of FALINTIL-Timor-Leste Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, received the visit of Ambassador Wan Hadfi Lutfan Bin Haji Abdul Latif, in his office at the Fatuhada Headquarters in Dili.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss bilateral cooperation in the military area between Timor-Leste and Brunei Darussalam.
The meeting also discussed the preparation of a joint exercise between the Brunei forces, the Gurkha Forces and the F-FDTL, to be held in Brunei.
In addition, in the future, members of the F-FDTL will be involved in the Operation Peace Support exercise, conducted by the Brunei Darussalam Force and the Malaysian Force, thus involving them in future UN missions.
